Successful applicants should have a strong background in science or engineering. Topics currently studied include the investigation of computational biomolecular modelling, structural and spectral studies of amino acids, DNA/RNA fragments and nucleosides, molecular spectroscopy, molecular physics and bioinformatics.

The Scholarships include
*Chancellor's Research Scholarships
*Australian Postgraduate Award (APA)
*Swinburne University Postgraduate Research Award (SUPRA)
*Vice-Chancellor's Research Scholarships
*International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)

International students can apply for all Scholarships except for Australian Postgraduate Award (APA). Permanent residents of Australia may apply for all Scholarship except for International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS).
The Scholarships include
*Up to $23,000 pa;
*Up to three years for Ph.D. candidates;
*Tax free;
*HECS exempt for local students;
*Tuition fee waiver within the candidature for international students;Plus
*Up to $1,455 relocation costs;
*$840 for doctoral thesis expenses;
*Upto $9,000 international and local conferences (within three years);

*Last two years undergraduate marks are no less than 75%;
*Valid IELTS results with no less than 6.5 and no bands are under 6.0;
