PhD Positions in Computer Vision for Image Guided Surgery
The research lab VisAGeS, INSERM/INRIA/CNRS at the University of Rennes 1 (France) has two open PhD positions in the project of computer assisted neurosurgery (full-time). Research will be carried out under the supervision of Pierre JANNIN. The Visages/U746 group is a research lab belonging to the INRIA and INSERM national research institutes. It is located both at the scientific and medical campus. Neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists from the University Hospital of Rennes belong to this lab. The focus of the research mainly lies on the development and assessment of new computer vision methods for image guided neurosurgery. More information can be found at www.irisa.fr/visages. Research will be performed with a strong collaboration of one of the major European company in this area which partially funds the project and a French SME.
The successful candidates hold a MSc in computer science, mathematics or related engineering sciences. Training in computer vision and medical image processing is a must. Excellent French or English language skills are mandatory. Good English writing skills are mandatory. This PhD position requires good programming skills in C++. The scholarships have duration of 3 years with a net income about 1600 Euros per month. Travel expenses for national and international conferences are covered. Laptop and desk are provided. Desired starting date: October-November 2008.
